Health Insurer among Just 31 to Make State’s Large-Company List
HARRISBURG – Capital Blue Cross has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania” for the fifth consecutive year, placing 21st among large companies.
“To earn this award a fifth straight year is so significant because it is based entirely upon the comments and feedback from our employees’ and demonstrates their commitment to our company,” said Capital Blue Cross President and CEO Todd Shamash. “The past few years have brought unprecedented challenges – in our world, our industry, and our workplace – and I couldn’t be prouder of our employees’ ability to constantly adapt and go the extra mile to serve our members and our communities. It’s good to know they have the same high regard for Capital that we have for them.”
The pandemic led Capital Blue Cross to reimagine and evolve its workplace. Many Capital employees now work remotely or have a hybrid work arrangement in which they are able to split their work time between the office and home. Capital keeps its employees connected through a variety of initiatives, including increased collaboration tools, monthly connection days and team building activities.
“We’re grateful to once again be recognized among the Best Places to Work in PA,” said Jodi Woleslagle, Capital Blue Cross senior vice president of human resources. “We see every day how hard our employees work to improve the health and well-being of our members and their communities. This honor tells us that our employees see how hard we are working to create an increasingly inclusive, diverse, and compassionate work culture.”
Capital was among just 31 large companies to make the cut when The Best Places to Work in PA rankings were announced this week. This year’s list honors 120 employers in all, divided into small (15-99 employees), medium (100-249) and large (250-plus) categories.
Best Places to Work in PA is a project of the Central Penn Business Journal in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – PA State Council and Best Companies Group.
