Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the Historic Americus Hotel

Nestled in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Americus Hotel boasts a rich history accompanied by modern amenities. Guests enjoy spacious rooms, opulent period appointments, delicious dining, and premier event venues.

The site of the Americus Hotel had been used as a hotel since 1810. In that year, Abraham Gangawere built a two-story tavern on the northeastern corner of 6th and Hamilton Streets. The current hotel opened its doors in 1927and is known as the “Grand Lady of Hamilton Street”.

The Americus Hotel, a member of the Historic Hotels of America, has been brought back to life showcasing the original highlights of the hotel to include emerald cut chandeliers in the Grand Ballroom, palladium windows, and murals dating back to the 1920s.

Loving restoration of the Americus hotel has been made possible by long-time Allentown residents, the Abdouche family. Their attention to detail and commitment to the comfort of their guests is showcased in every detail.
