Brodheadsville, PA: William H. Kresge Funeral Home celebrated 150 years of serving the West End community this past November. The funeral home was first a furniture store in the late 1800’s, and then branched out to the funeral business. Since then, they have become a large part of the West End community with their thoughtful services and support.
William A. Kresge, the founder of William H. Kresge Funeral Home, originally was a furniture maker and carpenter who built many of the original homes on Route 209 in Brodheadsville during the 1870’s. He also built caskets for families, which ultimately led him turning the furniture store into a funeral home after receiving his mortician license. Since then, there have been 5 generations of Kresge’s serving the community.
“It has always been the mission of our funeral home to provide considerate, caring and compassionate services to every family we serve. I was not fortunate enough to know my great grandfather or grandfather, but I know my father lived by that statement,” says Thomas J. Kresge, of William H. Kresge Funeral Home. “In my forty three years here, I have tried to carry on that same tradition and I am confident that my son will also.”
