LEHIGH VALLEY, PA— From the United Nations to the Lehigh Valley, human trafficking is a reality that everyone has a duty to stop. To drive this message home, the Lehigh Valley Anti-Trafficking (LVAT) Collaborative will host its third annual Valley-wide anti-trafficking week November 6th to 13th.
Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, controling and exploiting vulnerable individuals for profit. This exploitation transcends race, location, and socioeconomic classes as traffickers prey on the broken.
The Lehigh Valley Anti-Trafficking Collaborative is composed of several social justice organizations dedicated to fighting the fight on the front lines. The founding organizations of the Collaborative include Aspire to Autonomy, Bethlehem Rotary, Bloom For Women, Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley, Valley Health Partners Street Medicine, VAST (The Valley Against Sex Trafficking), and Valley Youth House.
The LVAT Week Collaborative is actively building a united front to educate and equip our community to take action. In establishing a purposeful week of activities that include art, activism, compassion, and opportunity for understanding, we seek to cultivate a growing awareness to support those who are most vulnerable.”
This year’s theme is “Surviving Out Loud” as we celebrate individuals that have overcome and have become active leaders in their communities.
