Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for those between 5-and-11-years- old. The FDA and CDC have authorized a 10-microgram dose of Pfizer’s vaccine in young children.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation yesterday that children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer BioNTech pediatric vaccine. CDC now expands vaccine recommendations to about 28 million children in the United States in this age group and allows providers to begin vaccinating them as soon as possible.

White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zients said on Monday that the U.S. pediatric vaccine program will be running at full strength by next week.

There is no charge for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Additional vaccination clinic dates will be scheduled.
