The City of Allentown will resume full scale street sweeping activities next week.
“Street sweeping has been interrupted over most of the last five weeks following the near record snowfall,” said Public Works Director Craig Messinger. “We’ve got a lot of work to do and we need the public’s cooperation to facilitate operations. We need the residents to remove those items they have been using to designate the parking spaces they have dug out. Enough snow has melted that normal parking should be available.”
Street cleaning with enforcement is already underway in District 9. It will be resuming March 8 with enforcement in Districts 1 & 2.
District #9 is from 4th to 12th St from Union to Chew streets as posted.
District #1 is from Front Street to 10th Street, Chew to Sumner Ave., and from 4th to Front, from Chew to Union streets.
District #2 is from 10th to 17th Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Sumner Avenue.
Street cleaning in Districts 4 thru 16 will be starting earlier this year to get a jump start on winter cleanup. Please check the street cleaning hotline at 610-437-7636 or the city website Street Sweeping (allentownpa.gov) for up to date information.
