Non-profit will rent out cinemas through April 15, nominations now open for frontline workers
BETHLEHEM, PA – Due to popular demand, ArtsQuest has extended the private rental initiative at their Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas (FBAC) through April 15. In addition, ArtsQuest has also set aside ten free rentals to be given away to frontline workers nominated via an online form at steelstacks.org/film, starting immediately. The nomination process will end on Sun., Feb. 28 and the winners, chosen at random, will be notified in the first week of March.
Groups of up to and including twenty people can rent one of the two available cinemas – both located at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks at 101 Founder’s Way – and will be granted a 3- hour period to watch any movie they’ve provided, chosen from the FBAC’s inventory or selected from available streaming services. Pricing for each block is $199 / $149 for ArtsQuest Members
/ $99 for any group including at least one frontline worker. Food and beverage are available upon request via à la carte pricing. Anyone looking to apply for a rental slot must fill out the form located at the top of steelstacks.org/film.
“The response we’ve received for these cinema rentals has been incredible,” said ArtsQuest President & CEO Kassie Hilgert. “The majority of the groups renting the cinemas have included frontline workers, so we wanted to take yet another step towards giving some relief and relaxation to the people who are getting us through the pandemic. I, and so many others, have relied on these frontline workers throughout COVID to provide comfort, nourishment and relief and I’d love any opportunity to thank them for it. This sweepstakes is just one of many ways ArtsQuest is looking to do exactly that in 2021.”
Frontline workers can be employed in many different industries, including, but not limited to:
- Medical and Healthcare Services
- Food Service
- Transportation
- Maintenance
- Finance
- Housekeeping
- Animal Services
- Public Safety
- Child Care
Anyone with questions as to whether a job qualifies as frontline should contact ArtsQuest Programming Director Ryan Hill at rhill@artsquest.org.
As with all programming at the ArtsQuest Center, these rentals will be handled in strict accordance with all appropriate CDC guidelines. Guests will be required to wear masks – covering both the nose and mouth – in all public areas and strongly encouraged to wear masks in the cinemas unless actively eating or drinking; they will also be subject to mandatory temperature checks upon arrival. Electrostatic sprayers will be used to clean the cinemas before and after every rental.
The Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas are a two-screen independent cinema located at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks; they will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their opening on April 15, 2021. Public ticketed screenings will resume at the FBAC on Feb. 19 with the opening of Nomadland, starring Frances McDormand; the film won the People’s Choice Award at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and has been nominated for four Golden Globes.
