SHARECARE FAITH IN ACTION, Bethlehem needs many volunteers to help with taking people to their vital appointments starting in May. All volunteers will have to attend on-line orientation, provide criminal background check, and provide proof of insurance. Cloth masks & hand sanitizer provided to volunteers. THE LITERACY CENTER, Allentown is looking for virtual volunteers to assist with online GED and ESL classes beginning in June. Opportunities available for in-class assistants, study group leaders, and one-on-one tutors. Training provided! Prior teaching experience preferred and experience with virtual conferencing programs such as Zoom and Google Classroom a plus. Volunteer shifts range from occasional, to weekly, to multiple days a week. Reliable internet connection and computer with audio/video capabilities required. SIXTH STREET SHELTER, Allentown is seeking volunteers to assist with weeding and other beautifying projects outside of our shelter. We have a playground and several gardens in need of attention! This opportunity allows for social distancing. Please bring a mask with you for entering the building to sign a waiver and receive a temperature check before working. Up to 4 volunteers from up to 3 different households can be accepted on Wednesdays during our normal business hours, 8:30-4:30. WHITEHALL-COPLAY HUNGER INITIATIVE needs 8 volunteers (min age 16 with parent) every Wednesday 12 noon -1 pm starting on June 17th at our pantry at St John’s Lutheran Church, 835 N 3rd St Whitehall to unload 4,000-8,000 pounds of food from our truck from Second Harvest Food Bank and then reload our truck with approximately 2,000-4,000 pounds of food for our Coplay food distribution. VOLUNTEER CENTER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem is recruiting high school students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade for their goLEAD Leadership Program which will take place from 9am-3pm on Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17. This program helps participants develop critical leadership skills via a virtual series, while preparing a capstone service project. Applications may be found on www.volunteerlv.org/go-LEAD and must be submitted by June 26.
