Downtown Allentown Hosts Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony



 

Allentown, PA – November 29, 2018: The Downtown Allentown Business Alliance in partnership with the City of Allentown is proud to present the 2018 Downtown Allentown Tree Lighting Celebration on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the PPL Plaza, 800 block of Hamilton Street. Festivities include musical performances, dance acts, horse-drawn carriage rides, face painting, hot coco, and appearances by Pip the Mouse, MeLVin, and, of course, Santa. This is a free event and is open to the public. 

The Lehigh Valley Marine Corp. Toys for Tots will be in attendance to donate and distribute toys to the children. (Toys are available on a first come, first served basis.) 

WHEN:  Thursday, December 6th

TIME: 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:  PPL Plaza, 800 block of Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101 

Lehigh Valley musician, Dave Fry will headline and serve as the emcee for the event this year, plus other musical performances, including the Allentown School District 3rd Grade Flutophone Ensemble – presented as part of the Allentown Arts Commission 2018 Artist-in-Residence Program – William Allen Band, Dieruff High School Jazz Band, and YEA! Xcape dance group. 

WFMZ 69News Meteorologist, Mark Shanaberger will provide a live weather report during the tree lighting.    

TREE LIGHTING SCHEDULE OF ENTERTAINMENT: 

4:00-4:30 – Dave Fry

4:30-4:45 – ASD 3rd Grade Flutophone Ensemble

4:45 – Santa arrives on fire truck

5:05-5:10 – Tree lighting with Mayor Ray O’Connell, Santa and Mark Shanaberger

5:15-5:45 – William Allen High School Band

5:45-6:15 – Dieruff High School Jazz Band

6:15-6:30 – YEA! Xcape Dancers

6:30 – Program Ends
