Duck, Wild Boar, Alligator & Eight Oaks Spirits Highlight Menu at SteelStacks’ ‘Taste of the Wild’ Culinary Experience June 2

BETHLEHEM—Pulled Duck Tacos, Wild Boar Bacon, Alligator Fritters and Ostrich Sliders, plus the opportunity to sample the finally crafted spirits of the New Tripoli-based Eight Oaks Craft Distillers, highlight the 3rd “Taste of the Wild” culinary event on the loft of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks June 2, 2-3:30 p.m. Tickets for the event, which also provides unique opportunities for guests to meet the education animals and staff of Wildlands Conservancy, are $38 for ArtsQuest Members and $40 for the public; they go on sale noon today at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.

At Taste of the Wild, attendees enjoy a variety of game and fish inspired hors d’oeuvres crafted especially for the event by the ArtsQuest Center culinary team, while getting up close and personal with birds of prey like an owl or hawk, reptiles and mammals from the Emmaus-based Wildlands Conservancy. Wildlands Conservancy educational staff will also be on hand to share information on the animals, their habitat and conservation success stories.  New this year, Eight Oaks will be on hand, offering participants the chance to sample their award-winning small batch spirits like Applejack and Whiskey. Plus, attendees will have an opportunity to shop for finely crafted, nature-inspired artwork and jewelry at the Step Outdoors artisan show, presented by Ah-Ha! Arts Management.

Chili Spiced Bison Carpaccio, Refried Black Beans, Southwest Kale Caesar
Ostrich Sliders, Sour Cherry Aioli, Baby Arugula, Feta Cheese, Potato Bun
Alligator Fritter, Creole Mustard Yuengling Beer Dip
Wild Boar Bacon, Sweet and Spicy Glazed

Pulled Duck Taco, Sesame Ginger Scallion Slaw, Lemon Togarashi Crema

Proceeds from Taste of the Wild, presented in partnership with the Wildlands Conservancy, go to support Step Outdoors Lehigh Valley, the free community festival taking place at SteelStacks June 2-3. Now in its fourth year, Step Outdoors is filled with dynamic presentations and hands-on activities designed to introduce children and their families to the wonders of the world around them.

Activities include archery, biking, birding, fishing, visual arts, wildlife presentations and more. This year, guests will enjoy activities and presentations by more than 25 different organizations focusing on conservation, wildlife and outdoor recreation.
