(BETHLEHEM/ALLENTOWN) – Meals On Wheels organizations in Lehigh and Northampton counties are proud to announce that each has received a $7,500 grant from the Air Products Foundation to benefit its respective Meal Subsidy Programs.
The Meal Subsidy Program is an initiative that ensures that every home-bound senior and adult with disabilities at risk of hunger in each county will be served meals promptly without regard to their ability to pay or the availability of government funding by way of government meal subsidies. More than 7,600 freshly prepared, nutritious and medically tailored meals will be provided for Lehigh Valley clients, the majority of are low income, by Meals On Wheels thanks to the generosity of the Air Products Foundation.
Meals On Wheels of Northampton County is a private, nonprofit organization that has supported healthy living through the delivery of nutrition and grocery shopping services, wellness visits and more since 1972. In 2017, Meals On Wheels of Northampton County prepared more than 560,000 nutritious and medically tailored meals for nearly 1,600 clients in Northampton County and for multiple organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley that it serves through meal contracts. Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is a private, nonprofit agency that supports the wellness and independence of adults by providing nutritious and medically tailored meals and supportive services. Each weekday, 945 group and individual volunteers provide meals, friendly visits and well-being checks to an average of 460 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living throughout Lehigh County.
