Each year, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley holds a social media campaign called “30 Days, 30 Stories®” to introduce local pediatric cancer warriors to residents of the Lehigh Valley.
ALLENTOWN, PA, AUGUST 30, 2021 – On September 1st, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV) will launch its yearly “30 Days, 30 Stories®” campaign. September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and nine years ago PCFLV created this social media campaign as a way to introduce local cancer kids to the Lehigh Valley. Each day in September, a photo and a story (usually written by the child’s mom or dad) is featured on PCFLV’s website and social media sites.
“When we began this initiative, we never expected it would grow to be as big as it has,” said Michelle Zenie, executive director of PCFLV. “Last year, we had thousands of direct shares of our stories, and we know those shares were then shared again. We are simply amazed by the exposure that this campaign gives not only to our kids and families, but also to PCFLV.”
This year’s official photographer was professional photographer Matt Cannon, who incorporated downtown Allentown murals into the photos. Most photos in the campaign were taken by Cannon, while a few photos were submitted by the cancer families.
Additional exposure for this campaign will be provided by Miller-Keystone Blood Center, who will post each day’s story on their own website.
This series shows kids who are in various phases of their cancer journeys … some are newly diagnosed, others are on treatment, some are in survivorship, and some have lost their battle to cancer. Each story is unique and impactful.
At the end of each story, readers have the ability to click a link to donate to PCFLV in that child’s honor or memory.
