Lamont McClure and Parks and Recreation Superintendent Bryan Cope are pleased to announce County Council’s approval for grant applications to begin Phase 1A development at the Gall Farm Preserve in Plainfield Township. Northampton County will make $150,000 available in matching funds.

“Our parks and trails are the emerald jewels of Northampton County,” says Lamont McClure. “With its fields, forests and streams, Gall Farm will provide current and future generations with opportunities for hiking, fishing and recreation.”

“This is the first new park Northampton County has developed since 2010,” says Parks and Recreation Superintendent Bryan Cope. “Gall Farm Preserve will increase education and restoration efforts established throughout our park system.”

Northampton County acquired the 150 acres which makes up the preserve in 2003.The Plainfield Township Recreation Trail runs through the western part of the parcel. The land is presently undeveloped and used for farming. People fish for trout along the banks of the Little Bushkill creek where it transverses the property.

County Council adopted the Gall Farm & Plainfield Trail Master Site Development Plan on Nov. 21, 2019. Phase 1A development includes construction of a parking lot, storm water control and a connection to the Plainfield Township Trail.
