Positive COVID-19 test results are coming into the Allentown Health Bureau faster than staff can keep up in reaching out to close contacts.  More than 200 persons have tested positive this week.

Health Director Vicky Kistler asks all city residents who test positive for COVID to remain in their homes for the mandatory 10-day isolation period and separate as much as possible from all family members.

Those who have tested positive are asked to assist the health bureau by communicating with all persons they have had contact with from 48 hours prior to their first symptom, or if they have no symptoms from the date of their test, and inform them that they are a close contact and need to remain at home for 14 days. Those close contacts too should separate as much as possible from others in their homes.

Those persons with positive test results are urged to contact their healthcare providers and/or call 911 if they experience difficulty breathing, change in mental status or any serious complications.
