June 27, 2022: The Celtic Cultural Alliance (CCA) has announced the opening of volunteer registration for the 35th annual celebration of the Celtic Classic Highland Games and Festival, which will take place on September 23-25, 2022, in downtown Bethlehem.
.
The Celtic Classic relies on hundreds of dedicated volunteers to create the event. From set-up to tear-down, there is an opportunity for everyone.
Executive Director, Jayne Ann Recker stated: ‘We have a saying here at the Celtic Classic: There are 500 new friends waiting to meet you! And that is the truth. Some of these wonderful people have been working together for years and when they get together, they bring the party. We have several that met while volunteering but live a distance away from each other and only see each other at the Celtic Classic. They make arrangements to be scheduled together each year. We love to get those phone calls.’
There are many opportunities for students to earn community service hours. Students can work together with friends in groups assisting in the Children’s Activity Tent, as Supply Runners, in the Merchandise Tent or individually as stage hands.
CCA also has paid cashier positions in the Beverage Tents for those 18 and older. Square Terminals will be used and are very easy to learn. For an application, email: volunteers@celticfest.org
For those who looking for a seated position, there are opportunities in the Volunteer Check In Tent and VIP Tent Check In. Whether you want to be near the pipe bands (Piping Steward or Parade Marshal) or tapping a Guinness while listening to an Irish Jig, or just want to be a part of the largest free Celtic festival in North America, the Celtic Classic promises you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
Recker stated: ‘Only volunteers registered by August 1st will receive a 35th Anniversary t-shirt.
Celtic Classic runs from Friday, September 23rd through Sunday, September 25th in Historic Downtown Bethlehem. For up-to-the-minute information and updates, follow Celtic Classic on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@CelticClassic).

About the Celtic Cultural Alliance
On Columbus Day weekend in 1988, the first Celtic Classic was presented by a small group of individuals. The goal of this dedicated group was to create an event that symbolized the Celtic spirit and history, and to provide the impetus for an organization that focused on promoting the Celtic culture. This group has now evolved into Celtic Cultural Alliance to better communicate the overall goals of the organization.
The CCA has expanded with year-round programming to support the mission of promoting and preserving Celtic Culture through arts, music, literature, dance, and history programs. In keeping with the spirit of “Next Generation”, the CCA also offers scholarships to promising young students of the Celtic Arts. These yearly scholarships are offered to students of the arts, including Irish Step Dance, Highland Dance, Fiddle, and Bagpipes.
The Celtic Classic has blossomed into one of the largest Highland Games and Festival in North America. Annually, over 250,000 visitors come to Historic Bethlehem to join in this celebration of all things Celtic. The organization has expanded into year-round programs. Our educational programming has expanded to include community outreach events in area school districts, religious institutions, local theaters and colleges throughout the Lehigh Valley. A series of scholarships are awarded each year in varied areas of Celtic culture.
