This awards program, established in 2018, recognizes committed educators who work with young children, from infants to second graders, and offers a variety of community building, leadership and professional learning opportunities provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/pbskids.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PBS KIDS<\/a> and member stations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to support educators like Alexandra who have devoted their time to educating young people,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2122, home of PBS39, said. \u201cSince Alexandra is a reading specialist, and reading comprehension is essential for future success, her work aligns perfectly with our mission. Through our various educational initiatives and partnerships, including <a href=\"https:\/\/lehighvalleyreads.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lehigh Valley Reads<\/a>, we are building a community of readers to make the Lehigh Valley a place of opportunity for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s honorees were selected for their passion and commitment to early education and have each demonstrated outstanding impact in supporting the growth and learning of the whole child, strengthening the ecosystem in which children learn and creating unique and innovative teaching experiences. Through the Early Learning Champions program, PBS KIDS aims to create a community that includes professional learning and networking opportunities for educators, while fostering relationships between them and their local PBS stations. Mindler has been a PBS39 facilitator for the past eights years, helping the organization\u2019s educational outreach after school and during the summers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy greatest joy in teaching is seeing a kid smile,\u201d Mindler said. \u201cPBS KIDS has been a valuable resource to me as an educator and the lives of the young learners I work with. I often share resources and ideas with my colleagues and students that I\u2019ve obtained through my work facilitating with PBS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The PBS KIDS Early Learning Champions program, which recognized 17 passionate educators of young children in 2018, includes various early learning caregivers \u2013 certified Pre-K, Head Start and early elementary teachers, childcare providers as well as family, friends and neighbors in early learning settings \u2013 representing, celebrating and supporting the diverse teaching community impacting young learners.
