(Allentown, PA)- <\/strong>Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center held its first ever \u201cCelebrating Excellence\u201d Awards Ceremony today where it honored three of its outstanding staff members \u2013 a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) who won a distinguished statewide award and two staff members who won internal C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Awards, which are named after Cedarbrook\u2019s mission of \u201cA Community with Heart Offering Individualized Care and Excellent Service\u201d.<\/p>\n The C.H.O.I.C.E.S. awardees were James Leibensperger, who works in environmental services and Amber Surman, a medical social worker.\u00a0 James works at the Cedarbrook Allentown facility and Amber works at the Cedarbrook Fountain Hill facility.\u00a0 They were both nominated by their peers for the award.<\/p>\n The ceremony was capped off with awardee Lindsey Ruff receiving a statewide honor.\u00a0 Ruff was recently selected by the Pennsylvania Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare and Living Communities (PACAH) as the CNA of the Year in Pennsylvania.\u00a0 PACAH represents over 143 organizations, including County nursing homes, Veterans homes, nonprofit facilities, private homes, and other businesses throughout the state.<\/p>\n \u201cCedarbrook is blessed with caring and dedicated staff like Lindsey, James, and Amber.\u00a0 It is no coincidence that the awardees work in positions that are very involved in the lives of our residents on a daily basis despite being in very different departments.\u00a0 It takes excellence from every department working in collaboration to produce high quality service.\u00a0 We are very thankful to have so many outstanding employees at both of our Cedarbrook campuses,\u201d said Cedarbrook Administrator Jason Cumello.<\/p>\n The PACAH CNA award was initially accepted by Cumello on Lindsey\u2019s behalf at the recent statewide PACAH conference in September in Pittsburgh.\u00a0 Thousands of CNAs work at PACAH affiliated facilities.\u00a0 The attendees at Cedarbrook\u2019s jovial \u201cCelebrating Excellence\u201d event on 10\/30 included staff, residents, and County and State dignitaries.<\/p>\n \u201cToday is a day of recognition, a recognition that it is the people who make up Cedarbrook and who serve its residents that matter most.\u00a0 Cedarbrook is where it is today, because of its nurses, aides, kitchen crews, housekeepers and physical therapists (to name a few) who provide residents with comfort, care and compassion during the golden years of their lives,\u201d said Lehigh County Executive Phillips Armstrong.<\/p>\n Armstrong praised Cedarbrook for its quality ratings and its recent designation by Newsweek as one of the top skilled nursing facilities in the State of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n Newsweek recently designated Cedarbrook as being among the top twenty skilled nursing homes in the state, and top in the country.<\/p>\n These ratings are arriving at a time when Lehigh County is making further investments in the longevity of the county home, ensuring it remains for future generations.\u00a0 Lehigh County recently took out a $46.7 million bond to finance the construction of a new wing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Information provided to TVL by: <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
