Free series presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network includes Sensory Friendly screenings<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, PA\u2014The fun of the Levitt Pavilion Family Summer Movie Series will now continue year-round as Lehigh Valley Health Network presents the all-new Second Saturday Kids Movie Series. Kicking off Oct. 13 with \u201cPee Wee\u2019s Big Adventure,\u201d the free series takes place each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Red Cinema at the ArtsQuest Center\u2019s Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas.<\/p>\n

A Sensory Friendly screening of each month\u2019s film will be offered in the Blue Cinema at the same time. Specifically designed for children and adults living with autism, the Sensory Friendly program allows everyone to experience the joy of seeing their favorite movies on the big screen.<\/p>\n

As part of the film screenings, talking and walking are permitted, while stimming (self-regulation behavior) is encouraged. The theater\u2019s house lights are dimmed but remain on, while the film volume is lowered, and previews are eliminated, all to provide a comfortable viewing experience for attendees. Additionally, families with special dietary needs can bring food from home.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing part of this ArtsQuest program is key to our commitment to working with partners in the community in supporting children and their families in realizing each child\u2019s optimal wellness, development and growth,\u201d says Nathan Hagstrom, Physician-in-Chief for Lehigh Valley Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n

The initial Second Saturday Kids Movie Series lineup is:<\/p>\n

Oct. 13 | Pee Wee\u2019s Big Adventure<\/p>\n

Nov. 10 | Cinderella (1950)<\/p>\n

Dec. 8 | Polar Express<\/p>\n
