DORNEY PARK, Allentown, PA (June 9, 2016<\/span>)<\/em><\/strong> \u2013Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom General Manager Mike Fehnel joined Representative Ryan Mackenzie, members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and fellow amusement parks in Harrisburg yesterday for the introduction of House Resolution No. 877, which recognizes amusement parks throughout the Commonwealth and designates Friday, June 10th<\/sup> as \u201cAmusement Park Day\u201d.<\/p>\n

Through this resolution, introduced by Representative John D. Payne (R) of Dauphin County, the House of Representatives honors amusement and family-themed parks in Pennsylvania and urges encourages residents to take the opportunity to visit the many amusement parks in the Commonwealth.\u00a0 According to Representative Payne, \u201ctourism should be celebrated as it injects nearly $40 billion annually into our economy and supports 304,000 Pennsylvania jobs\u201d, adding specifically that \u201cit is important to celebrate our amusement and water parks specifically for the role they play in bringing families to the Keystone State.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, the center of summer fun and family entertainment in the Lehigh Valley, is in the midst of its 133rd<\/sup> operating season.\u00a0 As listed in the House Resolution as a park \u201cworthy of recognition\u201d and described as a park rich in history, Dorney Park proudly operates the eighth oldest roller coaster in the United States, the tenth oldest roller coaster in the world \u2013 Thunderhawk, which remains a classic, old-fashioned American wooden roller coaster with thrilling out-of-seat airtime pops and a favorite among guests.\u00a0 According to Fehnel, \u201cDorney Park is a staple in the Lehigh Valley economy, employing over 2,000 associates a season that strive to provide the \u201cbest day\u201d experience to all its guests.\u201d\u00a0 Recognizing its role in the economy, \u201cDorney Park also strives to be a responsible corporate citizen through its partnerships with organizations such as the South Whitehall Township Police Department, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Give Kids the World Passport Program, Alex\u2019s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and its partnerships with schools, youth programs and many other charitable organizations in our area\u201d, added Fehnel.<\/p>\n
