He is also the founder of independent record label Fool Records.

For Accardi, opening The Record Bunker is about much more than starting another business. It’s about sharing a lifelong passion and bringing back an experience that helped shape his love for music. “Growing up, I loved going to our local record store at least once a week, sometimes more. I’ve been playing music for over 30 years, and my love for music has always run deep. Some of my best memories are discovering new bands at local shows and digging through bins of records, never knowing what I might find.

I wanted to bring that experience back and share it with as many people as possible. My goal with The Record Bunker is to create a place where people of all ages can discover music, support local and independent artists, and experience something you just can’t get from streaming. It’s about more than just buying records. It’s about the music, the memories, the discoveries, and the community that comes with it.”

At a time when streaming services dominate how people listen to music, The Record Bunker is

embracing the importance of physical media. Vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes over something that digital streaming cannot fully replace: the experience of holding an album, appreciating its artwork, reading the liner notes, and building a personal music collection.

The Record Bunker hopes to introduce younger generations to the experience of record collecting while giving longtime collectors a place to continue their passion. Whether customers are searching for a rare release, replacing a childhood favorite, discovering

underground bands, or purchasing their first record, there’s something waiting to be discovered.

The Record Bunker covers much more than vinyl. Customers can explore a variety of music-related products, including:

– New and used vinyl records

– CDs and cassette tapes

– Punk, rock, metal, and other band merchandise

– Music-related clothing and accessories

– Posters and collectible music memorabilia

– Ernie Ball guitar accessories

– Independent and underground music releases

The store continues to expand its inventory, with an emphasis on bringing customers both popular releases and harder-to-find music that may not be readily available at larger retailers.

With strong roots in Pennsylvania’s independent music scene, The Record Bunker is committed to supporting local musicians, smaller record labels, and artists who often receive little attention from mainstream retailers. Through Accardi’s independent record label, Fool Records, and his decades of involvement in live music, the store has a direct connection to the underground music community.

The goal is to give independent artists another place for their music to be discovered and

appreciated while encouraging customers to explore bands they might otherwise never hear.

The Record Bunker is designed to become more than a retail store.

Plans include music-related events, opportunities for local artists, creative activities such as

fanzine workshops, and other community gatherings that celebrate music and independent culture.

The store aims to provide a welcoming environment where collectors, musicians, teenagers,

families, and longtime music fans can come together over a shared love of music. Accardi believes that independent record stores still have an important place in today’s

communities. A record store isn’t just somewhere to buy an album. It’s somewhere to discover something. unexpected, have a conversation about music, meet people with similar interests, and walk away with something meaningful.

Located in Lehighton, just minutes from Jim Thorpe, The Record Bunker also offers visitors

exploring the Pocono Mountains and Carbon County a unique, independently owned shopping

destination. With the fall foliage season underway and Halloween approaching, the store is featuring a specially selected collection of spooky, Halloween-themed, and horror-related vinyl records. Visitors attending seasonal events, exploring local attractions, or simply enjoying the area’s scenery are encouraged to stop in and discover something new.

The Record Bunker’s mission is simple: keep physical music alive, support independent artists, and bring people together through music. The store welcomes everyone, whether they’ve been collecting records for decades or are just beginning to discover the world of physical media.

As the store continues to grow, Accardi hopes The Record Bunker will become a lasting part of the local community and a destination for music lovers throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond.

Ribbon Cutting by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026 at 4:00 pm.

The Record Bunker

325 Cypress Street — Rear Entrance

Lehighton, PA

Website:** https://therecordbunker.com

Store offerings: New and used vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, band merchandise posters, clothing, music accessories, and more.

Follow The Record Bunker on social media for new arrivals, events, special announcements, and store updates.

BUY • SELL • TRADE • DISCOVER •

PHYSICAL MEDIA MATTERS •

Music lovers and vinyl collectors have a new destination in Carbon County. **The Record Bunker**, located at **325 Cypress Street (rear entrance) in Lehighton, Pennsylvania**, is officially open, bringing a unique shopping experience centered around music, collecting, and community.
