Jones becomes first African American CEO in LVHS history as organization enters a new chapter led by an all-women leadership team.

ALLENTOWN, PA — September 30, 2026 — The Lehigh Valley Humane Society (LVHS) is proud to announce Teisha Jones as its Chief Executive Officer, marking a historic new chapter for an organization that has served animals and families throughout the Lehigh Valley since 1906.

Jones becomes the first African American CEO in LVHS’s 120-year history. Her appointment also comes at a time when the organization is guided by an all-women leadership team, representing another significant milestone as LVHS honors its history while looking toward its future.

For Jones, the appointment represents the culmination of more than 14 years of progressive leadership within LVHS. She began her career with the organization in frontline animal care and advanced through increasingly responsible leadership positions, including Animal Care Technician, Lead Animal Care Technician, Shelter Manager, Shelter Director, Director of Operations and Chief Operations Officer.

During her tenure, Jones has helped guide LVHS through significant growth and transformation, including its evolution, the expansion of affordable veterinary and community-based services, and a $4 million construction and renovation project completed while maintaining lifesaving services and organizational operations.

Jones assumed the interim CEO role following the passing earlier this year of longtime CEO Hal Warner, whose dedication to animal welfare, community service and LVHS left a lasting impact on the organization and the Lehigh Valley community.

“Hal’s commitment to this organization and to the animals and people of the Lehigh Valley will always be an important part of who we are,” Jones said. “It is an honor to help carry that legacy forward while working alongside our staff, Board, volunteers, donors and community partners to build the next chapter of the Lehigh Valley Humane Society.”

“Teisha was the clear choice for the Board because her 14 years of proven leadership, deep understanding of LVHS and unwavering commitment to animals and our community uniquely position her to lead the organization into its next chapter,” said Tony Armao, Chair of the LVHS Board of Directors.

Jones brings extensive experience in nonprofit operations, animal welfare, strategic planning, community engagement, municipal partnerships, team development and organizational leadership to the CEO role. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong, mission driven teams and developing collaborative, data-informed approaches that improve outcomes for animals while strengthening the organization’s ability to serve the community.

Her leadership has touched virtually every aspect of LVHS operations, including shelter and veterinary services, animal control, human resources, facilities, customer service, adoptions, compliance, budgeting and administration. She has also helped build relationships with municipalities, law enforcement agencies, businesses, foundations, donors and community organizations throughout the region.

As CEO, Jones will oversee the Lehigh Valley Humane Society and its Community Vet Clinic while leading the organization’s strategic direction, community engagement, fundraising and continued expansion of programs that support animals and the people who care for them.

Her leadership philosophy centers on compassion, collaboration, accountability and measurable impact — values she says will guide LVHS as it enters its next chapter.

Lehigh Valley Humane Society – Founded in 1906, the Lehigh Valley Humane Society has evolved considerably during its 120-year history. What began as an organization established to provide a haven for homeless animals and prevent cruelty has grown into a multifaceted animal welfare organization serving both animals and the people who love them.

Today, LVHS provides rescue, rehabilitation and adoption services, cruelty investigation, humane education and community outreach. Through our Community Vet Clinic over 6,689 veterinary services were provided.
