JOSEPH, Mich. – United Federal Credit Union (United) has once again been recognized as one of American Banker’s Best Credit Unions to Work For, earning the distinction for a third consecutive year and highlighting the organization’s ongoing investment in workplace culture, employee engagement, and leadership development.

The annual awards program recognizes credit unions across the country that excel in creating workplaces built on trust, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, professional development, and organizational culture. United ranked 22 out of 70 credit unions listed nationwide. Rankings are determined through a comprehensive evaluation that includes both employer practices and direct employee feedback. According to American Banker, the 70 winning credit unions averaged 87% of employees who approved of their employers’ leadership and planning; 89% had positive feelings about their work environment; and 91% said they had good relationships with their supervisors.

“This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the experiences and voices of our employees,” said Terry O’Rourke, President and Chief Executive Officer of United Federal Credit Union. “At United, we believe that when people feel valued, supported, and connected to a larger purpose, they do their best work. Being recognized for a third consecutive year is a testament to the culture our team has built together and the leadership commitment to ensuring every employee has an opportunity to grow, be heard, contribute, and succeed.”

United’s culture is rooted in its practice of building lifelong relationships while creating a workplace where collaboration, innovation, and service thrive. The credit union continues to invest in professional development, leadership growth, employee recognition, flexibility, well-being initiatives, and opportunities for team members to provide feedback and help shape the future of the organization.

“Our employees’ voices help shape our culture, influence our decisions, and drive continuous improvement across the organization now and into the future,” said William Schirmer, Chief Human Resources Officer at United Federal Credit Union. “We are committed to fostering an environment where team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally.”

Over the past year, United has continued to enhance its focus on employee experience through expanded recognition programs, leadership development opportunities, and initiatives designed to strengthen engagement across its multi-state footprint.

“Culture isn’t created by a single program or initiative. It’s built every day through relationships, trust, and leadership at every level of the organization,” O’Rourke added. “We are proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but we remain focused on continuously improving and ensuring United continues to be a workplace where talented people choose to build rewarding careers.”

The Best Credit Unions to Work For program is administered by American Banker in partnership with Best Companies Group and honors organizations that have demonstrated outstanding workplace practices and exceptional employee satisfaction.

Learn more about career opportunities at United by visiting: https://unitedfcu.com/about-us/careers.

____________

About United

United Federal Credit Union has served its Members since 1949 by helping them to build a sound financial future.
