Four-time U.S. Olympian Joetta Clark Diggs, 64, won the silver medal in the women\u2019s 60\u201364 100 meters and recorded an American-record performance while representing Team USA at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea. Clark Diggs ran 13.43 seconds in the final, continuing a historic return to international competition more than two decades after her final Olympic Games.<\/p>\n
Known internationally for her elite middle-distance career, Clark Diggs represented the United States at four Olympic Games\u20141988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 and won 11 USA national championships. Now, more than two decades after her final Olympic appearance, she is rewriting expectations around longevity and high performance as a masters sprinter.<\/p>\n
Her Daegu performance is especially notable because she is making her World Masters Athletics Championships debut in a new discipline. After building her career as an 800-meter specialist, she has shifted to the 100 and 200 meters, where she is now competing among the world\u2019s best masters athletes.<\/p>\n
