August 26, 2026\u00a0\u2014 Allentown City Council selected\u00a0Jasmine Salgado\u00a0to serve as Interim City Controller during its meeting on August 25.<\/p>\n
The appointment follows a public selection process conducted by City Council following the vacancy in the Office of City Controller. Council advertised the vacancy, accepted and reviewed applications from qualified residents, and conducted public interviews before voting on the appointment.<\/p>\n
Ms. Salgado brings more than 15 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audit preparation and organizational management. She currently serves as Co-Founder and Executive Director of Valley Wealth Alliance and previously held financial management positions with The Baum School of Art, Alick Smith G.C. and Miquel-Rius USA.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil understood the importance of this appointment and took our responsibility in this process seriously,\u201d said\u00a0Council President Santo Napoli. \u201cWe appreciate everyone who applied and participated in the process, and we congratulate Ms. Salgado on her appointment as Interim City Controller.\u201d<\/p>\n
Council Vice President Cynthia Mota\u00a0also recognized the significance of Ms. Salgado’s appointment.<\/p>\n

The City Controller is an elected position and serves as an independent fiscal oversight officer for the City and is responsible for reviewing City finances, expenditures and financial practices, as well as conducting audits and reporting findings and recommendations to City officials and the public.<\/p>\n
Ms. Salgado will serve the remainder of the term until the end of 2027 as Interim City Controller in accordance with the Home Rule Charter.<\/p>\n
