TANNERSVILLE, Pa. \u2013 On\u00a0Thursday, September 17,\u00a0<\/strong>Camelback Resort<\/a>\u00a0will take Halloween to new dramatic heights with \u201cThe Curse of Camelback,\u201d an immersive post-apocalyptic experience that will transform Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark and the surrounding mountain terrain into the fictional location of a terrifying chemical outbreak.<\/p>\n

Beginning at the base of the mountain, guests are recruited to join a fictional emergency response mission following a chemical accident. According to the storyline, chemicals used during the excavation of new winter trails mixed with pool-cleaning compounds to create mysterious toxic fumes that cause people exposed to them to vilely mutate.<\/p>\n

Guests board the mountain lift and travel uphill to Camelbeach and enter the containment zone where the rescue mission quickly takes a terrifying turn.<\/p>\n

As guests navigate an abandoned emergency response camp, fog-filled waterpark attractions, chemical spills, barricades, eerie tunnels and maze-like paths, they come face-to-face with horribly mutated characters and unexpected scares. Missing-persons posters, emergency signage and other details throughout the experience reveal the story of the outbreak \u2013 which raise questions about how this all happened.<\/p>\n

The guests ultimately meet Gary, the outbreak’s \u201cpatient zero,\u201d who has undergone a horrifying transformation producing more of the toxic gas. Guests must escape through a series of final scares before reaching safety.<\/p>\n

Designed as an immersive Halloween experience, The Curse of Camelback combines theatrical storytelling, elaborate sets, special effects, costumed characters and jump scares with the unique terrain of Camelback Mountain to create this chilling post-apocalyptic world.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than a haunted attraction \u2013 this experience takes guests on a journey from the base of the mountain into a completely altered world,\u201d said Jason Bays, vice president and general manager of the year-round recreational destination resort. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to introduce \u2018The Curse of Camelback\u2019 as the premiere experience of our new annual Halloween tradition with a different story and theme to come year after year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Curse of Camelback runs Thursday, September 17, through Sunday, November 8, from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.<\/p>\n
