State Senator Nick Miller Issues Proclamation for Centenarian<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (June 24,<\/strong>\u202f2026) <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Birthday excitement recently filled the air at\u00a0Cedar Crest Post Acute<\/a>, where the care team hosted a party for Imogene Lahneman, who turned 100 on May 30. The gregarious centenarian has resided at the Allentown skilled nursing center for 13 years.<\/p>\n

Donning a birthday tiara and sash, Lahneman was surrounded by staff, family and friends during the festivities, which included a Proclamation commemorating her centennial milestone from the Office of State Senator Nick Miller. Gail Vivar, communications director for the Senator, presented the Proclamation to Lahneman. The celebration also featured music, balloons, flowers and cake, of course.<\/p>\n

Lahneman, who is a Cedar Crest staff favorite known for her loving smile and sharp humor, still participates in many activities, especially bingo and spa days. The nursing team \u2013 and everyone who meets Lahneman \u2013 revels at how wonderful she always looks and how strong and capable she is.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the greatest privileges of being a nurse is witnessing a resident live a long, full life filled with memories, resilience, love, and stories that deserve to be heard,\u201d said Cedar Crest\u2019s Laura Riddick, LPN, clinical nurse lead. \u201cCaring for our residents is more than just a job. It\u2019s an honor to walk beside them through the chapters of a life well lived.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Cedar Crest Administrator Leslie Schupper, Lahneman’s milestone birthday hits a special chord. \u201cThe world has been enjoying Imogene for 100 years; she is living a joyful life filled,\u201d said Schupper. \u201cWhat an extraordinary legacy. We are honored to be trusted with her care during this stage of her journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lahneman was born and raised in Philadelphia before moving to Boston at the age of 20 for a job at Christian Science Publishing, where she enjoyed a 40-year career. According to her nephew, George Humes, she has always loved cats and reading, as well as drawing, growing up a block from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she spent many hours during her childhood.<\/p>\n

To help the centenarian get ready for the milestone celebration, Cedar Crest\u2019s life enrichment team treated her to a spa day, including a manicure and hand massage. In addition, Gabrielle Rondon, owner of Glamour Addict in Allentown, gave Lahneman a complimentary hair makeover.<\/p>\n

During the festivities, Humes shared the stories of his aunt in the 1930s serving as the model for an angel sculpture that was incorporated into an ornate church door. In 2013, she also was chosen to model for an oil painting.<\/p>\n

Lahneman enjoyed her big day, and when asked to give advice on how to enjoy a long life, she said, \u201cI always liked everybody. I didn\u2019t know how to do it or why to do it. I just knew to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her nephew readily agrees. \u201cMy aunt has always had that understanding and love of life. She appreciates all cultures and embraces everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
