Jarrett Coleman (R-16)<\/a>\u00a0is teaming up with\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/patreasury.gov\/\" href=\"https:\/\/patreasury.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/patreasury.gov\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1764897840346000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1DA3zrCWGk_ZkBmjMPRP8Q\">Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity<\/a>\u00a0to help area residents find money and other valuables they didn\u2019t even know they had. Coleman is hosting two events, one each in Bucks and Lehigh counties, to help constituents search for and claim unclaimed property.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Wed., Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coleman\u2019s Quakertown district office located at 314 W. Broad St., Room 102 in Quakertown.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tues., Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Coleman\u2019s Allentown district office located at 7535 Windsor Dr., Suite 200-B in Allentown.<\/p>\n<p>Unclaimed property refers to money or tangible items, such as old checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, stocks, insurance payments, refunds, utility security deposits and other financial accounts \u2013 or even the contents of safety deposit boxes. After three years of no activity or contact from the account owner, state law requires these items to be turned over to the Pennsylvania Treasury, which helps locate the rightful owners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re providing residents a fast and free opportunity to work with PA Treasury staff to find out if they have unclaimed property waiting for them \u2013 which could lead to residents putting extra cash in their pocket this holiday season,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cThis is a fantastic opportunity to search for yourself and your family members. You could find a nice surprise to make someone\u2019s holiday extra special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy office is thrilled to partner with Sen. Coleman to help more Pennsylvanians find unclaimed property that is rightfully theirs to make their holidays even brighter. I hope everyone stops by to search for hidden treasure, and if they can\u2019t make it out, they can still search online anytime at\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.patreasury.gov\/unclaimed-property\" href=\"https:\/\/www.patreasury.gov\/unclaimed-property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.patreasury.gov\/unclaimed-property&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1764897840346000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3-RNS8IERmdsjj87G1V8sb\">https:\/\/www.patreasury.gov\/<wbr \/>unclaimed-property<\/a>!\u201d Treasurer Garrity\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Unclaimed property is owed to more than one in 10 Pennsylvanians, and the average claim is worth more than $1,000. During her time in office, Treasurer Garrity has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property to the rightful owners.<\/p>\n<p>Treasury representatives will be available during these events to help attendees with their unclaimed property needs.
