Palmer Township received $50,000 for the Fox Run Park & Open Space Schoeneck Creek Restoration Project, which will restore a section of the Schoeneck Creek riparian buffer. The project includes stabilization and widening of the streambank, installation of native plantings, tree protection, and educational signage along a half-mile stretch of the creek. The Township will also monitor water quality and ecological improvements and implement a long-term maintenance plan.<\/p>\n
Upper Mount Bethel Township received $75,000 for Phase I construction of the Upper Mount Bethel Township Preserve, which will rehabilitate a former sand and gravel quarry into a public recreation area. Planned improvements include new entrances and trailheads, accessible trails, observation platforms, seating areas, and areas for fishing and kayaking. The project also includes native vegetation restoration and ecological monitoring.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Livable Landscapes Program continues to strengthen Northampton County\u2019s commitment to environmental stewardship and public recreation,\u201d said McClure. \u201cThese investments help our communities protect natural resources, improve water quality, and create beautiful spaces for residents to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Livable Landscapes Grant Program, administered by the Northampton County Parks and Recreation Division, supports projects that preserve open space, restore natural habitats, and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the County.<\/p>\n
