McClure announced that the County is moving quickly to distribute $188,604 in HUD Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding from the Fiscal Year 2024 allocation. Despite the ongoing federal government shutdown, these funds were previously appropriated by Congress and will help local agencies continue providing services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese funds are intended to support our community during a crucial time. We are working to get them out to local agencies as quickly as possible so they can continue their essential work assisting residents in need,\u201d said County Executive Lamont G. McClure. \u201cWhile uncertainty grips both federal and state budgets, these resources provide important support for our most vulnerable neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ESG program, approved as part of the County\u2019s FY-2024 Annual Action Plan under Resolution #81-2024, supports five program components:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Street Outreach<\/p>\n

\u2022 Emergency Shelter Operations<\/p>\n

\u2022 Homelessness Prevention<\/p>\n

\u2022 Rapid Re-Housing Assistance<\/p>\n

\u2022 HMIS System Management and Administration<\/p>\n

Through this funding agreement, Northampton County will pass the funds through to local service providers to maintain operations and continue serving residents experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n
