{"id":144440,"date":"2025-08-19T17:32:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T21:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=144440"},"modified":"2025-08-19T17:32:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T21:32:16","slug":"allentown-opens-applications-for-2026-firefighter-eligibility-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevalleyledger.com\/?p=144440","title":{"rendered":"Allentown Opens Applications for 2026 Firefighter Eligibility List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>August 19, 2025 \u2013 The City of Allentown is now accepting applications for the Firefighter Written Examination to establish the 2026 Firefighter Eligibility List.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicant Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 18 years of age<\/li>\n<li>U.S. citizen<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications are available online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allentownpa.gov\/jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.allentownpa.gov\/jobs<\/a>. Completed applications must be submitted by Monday, September 15, 2025, at 4:30 PM. Test details will be mailed to qualified applicants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How the Eligibility List Works<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants will take a written exam and are ranked on the eligibility list based on their score. Veterans receive an additional 10 points. In the event of a tie, rankings are determined by the time stamp of the application submission.<\/p>\n<p>Once the Allentown Civil Service Board establishes and certifies the list, it remains active for two years.
