{"id":140373,"date":"2025-02-14T17:49:55","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T22:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=140373"},"modified":"2025-02-14T17:50:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-14T22:50:38","slug":"pa-house-of-representatives-members-featured-in-military-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevalleyledger.com\/?p=140373","title":{"rendered":"PA House of Representatives Members Featured in Military Exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Harrisburg, PA\u2014The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Archives, 628 Irvis Office Building, Capitol Complex, Harrisburg, recently opened a new exhibit, \u201cSalute to Service: House Members in the Military.\u201d Open through the remainder of 2025, \u201cSalute to Service\u201d covers all major American conflicts from the Revolutionary War through modern day conflicts in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibit highlights Members of the PA House who served in each war since 1775.\u00a0 The exhibit showcases items on loan from current and former Members such as uniforms, diaries, helmets, and medals. Additionally, unique, never-before-seen items from the House Archives\u2019 collections are on display, including scrapbooks, photographs, and letters.<\/p>\n<p>Current House Members who have items on loan include: Rep. Nancy Guenst (D-Montgomery County), Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin County), Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties), Rep. Zach Mako (R-Northampton and Lehigh Counties), Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny and Washington Counties), Rep. Brian Munroe (D-Bucks County), Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties), and Rep. Joe Webster (D-Montgomery County).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new House Archives exhibit brings history to life. \u2018Salute to Service: House Members in the Military\u2019 demonstrates how many Members of the House feel a sense of obligation to serve their constituents both stateside and abroad. It\u2019s a great way to learn about the American military and the long history of individuals\u2019 military service,\u201d \u2013 Jesse Teitelbaum, Director of the House Archives.<\/p>\n<p>While viewing the exhibit, visitors will learn about these Members who served both state and country.
