significant traffic and parking impacts due to a political event scheduled at the PPL Center on Tuesday, October 29, in the late afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-image-carousel City is implementing the following measures to manage congestion and maintain public safety:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Street closures in the downtown. Expect congestion and limited access in the area.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>There will be a street closure in the downtown area: 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street from Linden to Walnut and Hamilton Street from 6<sup>th<\/sup> to 8<sup>th<\/sup> Street <strong>starting at 5:00 p.m. today.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>As of 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, the street closure will be expanded to include 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street from Turner to Walnut Street, 8<sup>th<\/sup> Street from Turner to Walnut Street, Linden Street from 6<sup>th<\/sup> to 9<sup>th<\/sup> Street, and Hamilton Street from 6<sup>th<\/sup> to 9<sup>th<\/sup> Street.<\/li>\n<li>Parking access will be provided to residents within the closure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>No parking will be available on Linden Street between American Parkway and 9th Street, with additional restrictions in surrounding areas of the PPL Center.<\/li>\n<li>The Allentown Police Department (APD), in coordination with state and federal law enforcement partners, will increase its presence to ensure the safety and security of the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Large crowds and foot traffic are anticipated, along with a heightened media presence in the vicinity of the PPL Center.<\/p>\n<p>The City encourages residents, businesses, and visitors to plan ahead if traveling through or near the affected areas on October 29.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Information provided to TVL by:<br \/>\nGenesis Ortega<br \/>\nCommunications Manager<br \/>\nOffice of the Mayor<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.AllentownPA.gov\">http:\/\/www.AllentownPA.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 28, 2024 \u2013 The City of Allentown is advising residents and visitors to plan for significant traffic and parking impacts due to a political event scheduled at the PPL Center on Tuesday, October 29, in the late afternoon and evening.
