{"id":100807,"date":"2020-05-05T23:02:12","date_gmt":"2020-05-06T03:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100807"},"modified":"2020-05-05T23:02:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-06T03:02:12","slug":"nurses-week-2020-nurses-across-the-state-hold-virtual-rally-for-the-nurse-recovery-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100807","title":{"rendered":"Nurses Week 2020: Nurses Across The State Hold Virtual Rally For the Nurse Recovery Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Nurses lay out demands needed for public health<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Statewide Pa: Nurses from across Pennsylvania will hold a virtual rally on Wednesday, May 6th, the first official day of Nurses Week.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The group, brought together by the grassroots movement Nurses of Pennsylvania and the Nurse Alliance of SEIU PA, is demanding that legislators work with nurses to implement <a href=\"http:\/\/nursesofpa.org\/nurseplatform\">The Nurse Plan for Pennsylvania\u2019s Recovery<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/nursesofpa.org\/nurseplatform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/nursesofpa.org\/nurseplatform&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1588818851152000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH88iM8FSdbcT3fgTRk3JSRwixCZA\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">They are calling on every member of the General Assembly to meet with nurses and ensure that nurses have a seat at every table where recovery plans are being made.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cCOVID has shined a spotlight on the failures of our healthcare system, and what happens when corporations and politicians make health decisions without nurses\u2019 input,\u201d said Katheen Halligan, a nurse who works in Western PA. \u201cWe won\u2019t be silent. We will spend Nurses Week &#8211; and all weeks &#8211; sounding the alarm for a greater voice in these decisions.
