Both the organization and its signature event celebrate special milestones

(EASTON) ProJeCt of Easton had much to celebrate for its 10th annual Simply Savory event that took place Oct. 18 at the Hampton Inn Easton. Simply Savory celebrated a decade of raising money and awareness for the Easton-based organization, and this year the event welcomed nearly 150 guests and sponsors who helped to net ProJeCt more than $25,500.

Simply Savory featured 18 Lehigh Valley restaurants, caterers, wineries, breweries and distilleries who shared their delicious food and beverages with attendees. Guests were also treated to a silent auction that featured 75 items to bid on, as well as music performed by Center City Drive, a band comprised of students from Kutztown University.

The evening also served as an opportunity to commemorate ProJeCt of Easton’s 50th anniversary of helping at-risk adults, children and families throughout the Lehigh Valley help themselves through education, literacy, school-based programming and emergency services. The organization began in 1968 as an initiative undertaken by leaders in the Protestant, Jewish and Catholic communities to help people break the cycle of poverty.

CEO Janice Komisor and Board President JoAnn Nenow shared this history with guests. They also discussed how ProJeCt’s many programs and services are free of charge for people and, more importantly, are inter-connected so that people are assisted on numerous levels to help them achieve success in school, work and in life.

Hampton by Hilton was presenting sponsor for the 2018 Simply Savory, while Brown Daub, Lexus of Lehigh Valley, Danny and Nancy Cohen, Bob and Elle Conti, and David Lyon, M.D., were among the major sponsors.
