Allentown, PA | Saturday, April 7, 2018 — Leading affordable housing organization Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley invites you to the sixth annual Plunge for a Purpose fundraiser event on Saturday, April 7th at Dutch Springs. Similar to a “Polar Plunge”, the Plunge for a Purpose is a creative way to support affordable housing solutions for low-income individuals and families in the Lehigh Valley by jumping into icy cold water.
This is a family fun event that is all in support of Habitat Lehigh Valley’s mission. Registration is free, and all funds raised will be used to help eradicate substandard low-income housing in the Lehigh Valley. You can register to plunge as an individual or as a team by visiting the user friendly registration site. Visit habitatlv.org and click on the event pop-up banner on the homepage and start fundraising today.
Check-in begins at 9AM with no entry into Dutch Springs after 10AM. Habitat Lehigh Valley is extremely thankful to this year’s title sponsor, Air Product’s, whose support and conviction in the Habitat for Humanity mission will help make the dream of homeownership a reality for future homebuyers. Brave plungers will take the plunge at 11AM. Plungers and spectators can enjoy free hot chocolate, courtesy of Whole Foods, and music thanks to B104.
Plungers are encouraged to dress in their best costume; the costumes will be judged and an award will be given to the winning costume. Awards will also be presented to the top fundraising team and the highest fundraising individual. Along with registering, make sure to sign your waiver(s)! Even if you’re not plunging, you MUST complete a waiver to enter Dutch Springs. Waivers can be signed by visiting the registration page for the event.
Habitat Lehigh Valley is also offering incentives for different fundraising levels: Each plunger who raises $50 or more will receive an official Plunge for a Purpose towel, and if you raise $125 or more you’ll receive a signature long-sleeve t-shirt. This is a fun event you won’t want to miss and it’s all for a great cause!
Habitat Lehigh Valley would like to thank its sponsors: Air Products; Lehigh Valley Phantoms; Dutch Springs; RCN; B104; Whole Foods; Jerdon Construction; Adams Outdoors; King, Spry, Herman, Freund, & Spry; and HindlePower.

About Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organization driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley (Habitat LV) is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, and has served the Lehigh Valley area since 1989. Since then, the organization has provided a hand up, not a hand out to 115 low-income, hard working families. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay back an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more about the organization and find out how you can get involved, visit www.habitatlv.org and like us on Facebook @Habitat Lehigh Valley.
