Youth  & Adult Volunteer Opportunities from the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley



ARTSQUEST, Bethlehem is looking for Christkindlmarkt volunteers for various positions including Admission Assistants, Booth Attendants, Eco-Squad, Merchandise Assistants, Customer Service, Kid’s Craft Assistants, and more.  The Festival runs for 6 weeks starting on November 17 through December 23rd (Thursdays through Sundays).  Shift times vary depending on day.  Call Coryna Barberis, 610-332-1360, cbarberis@artsquest.org.

 

FAMILY VOLUNTEER DAY is held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  It is an opportunity for families to work together to serve their community, share quality time for busy families, strengthen communication, and have a positive impact on local communities.  This year’s date is Saturday, November 18th, and The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley has several local opportunities available.  Check their website www.volunteerlv.org, where listings are updated regularly.

 

HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS & SITES is in need of volunteers for its Annual Turkey Trot 5kRun, a competitive and fun walk, on Sat., Nov. 26.  Volunteers are needed Fri. Nov. 24 and Sat. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS needs volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need.  This program coordinated by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals.  To participate, go to www.volunteerlv.org and fill out a 2017 Donor Pledge Form.  Filled shoeboxes may be dropped off at UGI Auditorium at 2121 City Line Ave., Bethlehem from 12noon-6pm on 11/28 through 11/30 or Friday 12/1 from 10am-3pm ONLY.

THE SALVATION ARMY, Allentown needs responsible, reliable, and trustworthy volunteers for their 2017 Red Kettle Bell Ringing Campaign.  Volunteers must relate well with the public, have a desire to help raise funds, be able to stand for a 4 hour shift and ring a hand bell, must dress weather appropriate for outdoors, and provide their own transportation to The Salvation Army on N. 8th St.   A short training orientation will be provided.  Call Deirdre Govan, 610-432-0128 x220, Deirdre.govan@use.salvationarmy.org.

 

THIRD STREET ALLIANCE FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN INC., Easton has volunteer opportunities for their Gingerbread House Contest from 1:15-8:15pm on Saturday, November 25th   People are needed to be Greeters, Gingerbread Monitors, Hall Monitors to guide visitors to see Santa, help voters select the “Best Gingerbread House,” and to answer questions.  Kick off the holidays by being part of this annual “fun”draiser.  Call Wendy Hughes, 610-258-6271, whughes@thirdstreetalliance.org.
