Cirque du Soleil is back in town, as their Varekai show opened Thursday night at the PPL Center and continues till Sunday. The elaborate and colorful costumes, the dance, the acrobatics, will wow audiences of all ages.
While Cirque du Soleil will present 18 different shows around the world this year, Varekai, is one of their older productions that premiered in 2002. There is definitely a French flavor to this show, and at times, a vaudeville quality. But standard to any Cirque show, is the beautiful imagery, which evokes and opens up one’s imagination.
As this story goes, deep within a forest, at the summit of a volcano, exists an extraordinary world called Varekai. The sky lets go a young man, who lands in Varekai, and through rediscovering life, and a newly found wonder of the mysteries of the world and the mind, he marvels at a place where the impossible becomes possible.
The word Varekai, which means “wherever” in the Roman language of the gypsies, the universal wanderers. This production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, and to those who quest infinite passion along the path that leads to Varekai.
Varekai is a performance not to be missed. The artists provide a more intimate setting by performing among the audience at times. Overall, a “G” rated show, perfect for the children with plenty of humor that will keep everyone laughing. But it is the talent brought forth by each artist in dance and acrobatics that will make this show most memorable.
Varekai from Cirque du Soleil will be in Allentown from November 9 to 12, 2017 at the PPL Center. Enjoy this last chance offer and save up to 25%.
