Allentown’s Lights in the Parkway celebration offers city-based neighborhood and non-profit groups, and corporate groups working on behalf of a non-profit an opportunity to earn some cash for their organization.
Volunteers are needed to take advanced sale tickets, sell on site tickets, assist with directing traffic and greet arriving customers.
Allentown’s 21st season of Lights in the Parkway, a spectacular holiday light show, opens Friday, November 24 at 5:30pm in Lehigh Parkway!
Organizations must be able to supply eight volunteers at least 18 years of age and older per shift which runs from 5pm to 10:30pm.
Groups are paid a maximum $300.00 stipend for the shift. If a group has less than eight volunteers, $30.00 of the stipend is deducted per person under the eight person total.
“Volunteering at Lights in the Parkway is a great way to get into the holiday spirit,” said Allentown Special Events Manager Christy Alvord. “You get to see the excited faces of thousands of children while earning some needed funds to help your group or organization.”
Mountainville Memorial Youth Association, Excel Dance Company, and Boy Scout Troop 140 are just some of the groups and organizations that are back to assist again in 2017.
Shifts are open on Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25, Friday, December 22, Saturday, December 23 and Sunday, December 24. Groups may sign up for one or more of these dates.
Groups are required to send two volunteer representatives to the Lights in the Parkway training session scheduled for Tuesday, November 14.
Interested groups or organizations are asked to have a representative contact Christy Alvord at Christy.alvord@allentownpa.gov or Ryan Griffiths at ryan.griffiths@allentownpa.gov or call the Department of Parks & Recreation at 610-4377750.
