(Lehigh County, PA) Glenn Eckhart, Lehigh County Controller and Republican candidate for Lehigh County Executive announced that it is time for functionality to return to Lehigh County Government. Eckhart believes that for too long, the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners and the Executive have bickered unnecessarily. “Over the past couple of years there has been a common theme among the relationship between the board of commissioners and the executive… Dysfunction. From day one, I will work to end that dysfunction, because the people of Lehigh County deserve better.”
One of the keys to getting anything accomplished is being able to work together, according to Eckhart. Glenn has already laid out plans to combat the problem. “Not only will I hold an open door policy as Executive, I will offer by-weekly meetings between myself and each member of the Board of Commissioners, as well as the row officers and the president judge.” Eckhart stated. Glenn believes he has what it takes to make things whole again. “It is easy to talk about getting people to work together, it is another thing to do it. I am pleased to say that I have a working relationship with every row officer. This does not mean I always see eye to eye with them, but it means I value their input and respect their opinions. We are a team, lets work together” Eckhart proclaimed.
Eckhart went on to explain that it is the people of Lehigh County and the employees who really end up suffering from this conflict. “I feel sorry for the people of Lehigh County who read about the dysfunction in the news, and I feel especially sorry for the employees of Lehigh County who have come to expect division and conflict among the Board and the Executive. That will all end with my administration. I look forward to the opportunity to return respect and civility to the Lehigh County Government Center.”
Glenn resides in Salisbury Township, and has a daughter named Maggie. Glenn is an active member of Jerusalem Evangelical Church of Eastern Salisbury. Glenn is running in the Republican primary for Lehigh County Executive that will take place on May 16th.
