Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released this statement following the announcement of a settlement in the Corman-NCAA lawsuit:
“I am pleased that an agreement has been reached between the NCAA and Senator Corman. The NCAA’s original decision to erase the accomplishments of Penn State’s hard-working student athletes as a punishment for a crime they did not commit never made sense, and I am glad the NCAA has reconsidered its position.
“More importantly, I applaud the steps taken to ensure that the university’s $60 million fine will be exclusively devoted to assisting Pennsylvania children who have been victims of abuse – an issue of great importance to me.
“Hopefully, the Penn State Board of Trustees will ratify this settlement. And I look forward to watching Penn State continue its tradition of “success with honor.”
