Guest Servers to Raise Money for Mercy at Taps

The Gala Committee for Mercy School for Special Learning will be hosting its second annual food-and-drink fundraising event featuring special guest servers at Taps Tavern, located at 3731 Route 378 in Bethlehem, on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

There will be two sessions, with each session consisting of three servers well-known in the Lehigh Valley community. These servers include: Beth Grys, Mercy’s new principal; JoAnn Wilchek Basist, Board member for the Civic Theatre; Pat Boyle, boys’ basketball coach from Notre Dame High School; Joe Flannery of Iron Mountain, which specializes in data backup; Frank Ford, president at St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus; and Mike Tunke, a committee member from Mercy’s Golf Classic.

A 50/50 raffle will take place throughout the event. All proceeds from the fundraising event (which includes drinks and/or dinner; no flyer is needed) will benefit this year’s Gala held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at DeSales University. Father Daniel G. Gambet, OSFS, and Sister Janice Marie Johnson, RSM, will be honored at the Gala for their years of outstanding service to Mercy. The Gala, which is Mercy’s largest fundraising event, welcomed nearly 350 participants and netted nearly $204,000 last year.
