Northampton County Trucking Firm Expands With Financing From Lehigh Financial Group
Mortgage Loan Allows SMR Trucking Of Easton To Purchase New Building, Add Jobs
Allentown, Pa. – A Northampton County trucking services conglomerate is expanding its services and adding jobs thanks to a financing package arranged by Lehigh Financial Group that allowed the owners to purchase a new building on Aug. 12.
SMR Trucking, SMR Logistics and SMR Truck and Trailer Repair will hold a grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 10, said Sunny Kaur, who owns and operates the companies with his family. The SMR family of companies provides transportation brokerage services, warehousing, truck parking and heavy duty truck and trailer repairs at its new facility at 1600 Uhler Road, Kaur said.
“This is an all-in-one thing,” Kaur explained, adding that the companies are now in their 17th year of providing services to local truckers and businesses. “There will be rental parking space available for truckers, mechanic and technical services and our brokerage firm will all be in one location. We will have to add at least three or four new positions. I need a secretary in the front office, we need mechanics and we need more technical people.”
Kaur said Lewis Edwards and Lehigh Financial were key to the company’s ability to purchase the new building and proceed with expansion plans.
“I worked with one company from Philadelphia and we provided all the information and it didn’t go anywhere. A friend suggested Lehigh Financial Group and within a month Lewis and the team brought everything together,” Kaur said. “They were great to work with and they kept things moving.”
Edwards, who works with partner Jeff Barber at Lehigh Financial, said he arranged a conventional loan with a national lender to assist the Kaurs in their purchase.
“They were working out of their homes,” he said. “Now they have a great new building that brings everything together and lets them look ahead to expansion and hiring more people. It’s a great win for the family and for the Lehigh Valley.”
