If You’re Not Online, You’re Not Relevant

There is a real shift going on in today’s society. Everything is becoming digital, robotic, and electronic. It makes life easier, or at least supposed to..right? Millions of people around the world are fascinated with how adaptive minded millennials use technology to their advantage. The thing is: we were born into and have grown up with technology so naturally we get it. Therefore those who want to keep up with the changing times and, especially within business, really need to evaluate their current business practices and process in relation to technology and the web. Those successful in business have adopted an open mind to the new opportunities the cyber world now offers our professions.

Do a little market research. Go to your closest “downtown” and people watch. See where a lot of people are spending their time. I’m willing to bet an arm and a leg you will see many on their phones walking down the street, on a laptop or tablet doing work on a bench, maybe even a bus with digital RSS feeds streaming along the sides. Point being, people are constantly using technology these days. We’re zoned in on our screens, searching for the answers, the next best thing, or not missing a beat in our own social world. With millions of media options, grabbing and holding onto someone’s attention is harder than the days of 6 channel TV and no internet. This makes marketing our services and products a whole new game.

How are you going to get people to read about your new product? How can you direct them to your store to buy? How are you going to connect with your consumers and audience to provide them constant value so they stick around? Your website.

If you haven’t jumped into 2016 and based your website as your largest marketing tool, you need to get with it or expect a slow and steady decline in business as the years pass. Simple as that. Your website should be an interactive landing page that displays you, your brand, and your message very clearly.

It should be where the majority or your marketing efforts funnel back to. The reason for this, is to continually keep your brand and identity in front of your customers. Constantly holding their attention in your hands and leaving them thirsty for your newest content.

Think back to the person you saw walking down the street on their phone, or the person working on the tablet sitting at the bench. We’re living in the “Information Age.” These people are not only working, but I guarantee they bounce around from many different websites as they are researching for a project, shopping online, or just using different social media platforms. Use this to your advantage for your business. The new “SEO” is Synchronize Everything Online. Your email campaigns, your social media platforms, your website, should all be uniform and representing one brand and message.

Providing value throughout all these mediums is what will help you gain traction with your audience.  Create calls to action, shop now, sign up here options, even create a poll for opinions. Having calls to action as well as synchronized mediums enables you to funnel your audience back to your website. For example, you have a blog and provide valuable information. You create a sign up for a blog post on Facebook, your consumer clicks, and is now on your site reading your blog. BUT,  they are also signing up for your free email newsletter, and getting the promotion codes to shop at your store.. Which takes them back to your website, and now they’re buying your product. The more you are able to provide great content while filtering your audience back to your site the better. Whether to buy, request a quote, or just to stay in touch, keeping the eyeballs on you and your message is key.
