January 7, 2024 – The City of Allentown invites the community to join a free celebration of Three Kings Day on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 5:30 to 10:00 PM for the final day of the Lights in the Parkway 2024 season.
Three Kings Day is a tradition that commemorates the Christian feast of Epiphany, which marks the end of the festive “12 Days of Christmas.” In Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, this holiday holds special traditions, such as children leaving a box with hay under their beds on January 6 to receive gifts from the kings.
The event was originally scheduled to be celebrated on the actual holiday of Monday, January 6, but was rescheduled due to snowy, weather conditions.
Tomorrow offers the final opportunity to walk, bike, or run through Lights in the Parkway for the 2024 season, as it is not a drive-through experience. The Allentown event will include a live nativity scene with camel and sheep provided by Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo. Guests can also participate in a parranda with traditional Puerto Rican caroling. Rebolcones Jeep Club and Las Motos Mamis will provide toys for children and raffle prizes while supplies last.
Courtesy of La Mega Radio and the Allentown Fire Department, free shuttles will operate from the Fire Academy parking lot at 1902 Lehigh Street to the Lights entrance.
This free event is made possible through the generous support of local sponsors and organizations, including La Mega, Rebolcones Jeep Club, ICDI, PRCP, Boris Cake, and Las Motos Mamis. There is no cost or need to register for this event.
