Amada Senior Care opened its doors in the Lehigh Valley in 2017, employing a handful of caregivers with a goal of enriching the lives of seniors in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Now entering its eighth year in business, Amada Senior Care employs close to 100 caregivers and provides over 120,000 hours of care each year. In addition to growing it’s caregiving business, Amada has expanded its service offerings to include elder care management via social workers, long-term care insurance claims management, and their newest offering, free senior living advising.
“We are excited to be Lehigh Valley’s only full-service senior care provider” said Upper Macungie Township resident Ed Duborg, 52, CEO and owner of Amada Senior Care Lehigh Valley. “If you’re a senior or the loved one of a senior and looking into additional help at home or you’re interested in moving to a senior community, we are one call away and have the
services to meet a wide variety of needs.”
“Our business model has always included the ability to offer senior living guidance or placement services. We started out providing home care and placement support in 2017 and we were having success with placements, but home care is such a grind we quickly realized we needed to put it on the back burner. We knew we were going to need a dedicated team,” said Duborg. “When we found Jess, we knew we had the perfect fit.”
Jessica Adam, “Jess,” is a Macungie resident and Amada’s new senior living advisor. After a 16- year career as a case manager at Lehigh Vally Hospital Cedar Crest, she worked in hospice care as a community liaison and most recently as a senior living sales director for two senior living communities in Bethlehem and Macungie. “Jess’ background makes her the ideal senior living advisor,” states Duborg. “Additionally, she’s just a great person.”
“It’s an honor for a family to have faith and trust in me assisting with this critical decision.” said
Adam. “It is important to me as an advisor, to personalize this decision and to find the best fit
for your loved one. Navigating senior living or home care options is usually a once in a lifetime
decision and we want to get it right the first time for our clients.”
In addition to free senior living placement services, Amada Senior Care specializes in traditional caregiver tasks such as help with bathing and dressing, running errands, housekeeping, and meal preparation. Caregivers work with seniors one-on-one for a 4-hour minimum shift, up to 24/7 care. The management team and the caregivers at Amada go far beyond helping with those activities of daily living (ADLs) to enrich clients lives in ways that are most meaningful to them and to make every day special. It is this kind of personalized care upon which Amada Senior Care has built a 5-star reputation throughout the Lehigh Valley.
A quick Google search is all it takes to see that Amada Senior Care is Lehigh Valley’s highest rated senior care company with the most 5 Star reviews. “We set out to be the most well- respected senior care company in the Lehigh Valley,” Duborg said. “And I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. We love serving others and will do what is best for our clients and employees, regardless of what is in the best financial interest of the company.”
“It’s a powerful message when talking with social workers, case managers and anyone that assists a senior to get the help they need,” said Craig Berdini, a resident of Bethlehem Township and Amada’s Director of Business Development. “And the team and reputation we have at Amada is the icing on the cake. It’s a family environment and we love our jobs.”
Amada Senior Care has participated in several of The Morning Call’s Top Workplaces surveys over the years and has finished no less than 1st, 2nd, or 3rd among small businesses each year. “If you take the best care of your employees, they will take best care of your customers. It is a simple thing that has somehow become complicated for most,” says Duborg. “I knew I would get satisfaction caring for seniors, but I did not anticipate how much I would enjoy providing a great workplace and work/life balance for our employees. It is a family atmosphere at Amada, and it has been very rewarding.”
Amada, a Spanish word meaning beloved, originated in Orange County, California, in the early 2000s. In 2012 the company became a franchise and has grown to over 130 locations across the nation, offering a “one call” resource for in-home care, senior living placement services, long- term care insurance claims management and more. Amada Lehigh Valley stands out as one of Amada’s top locations nationally.
