Bethlehem, PA (July 23, 2024) – The Topper Foundation has announced a transformative gift of one million dollars in support of Valley Youth House’s endowment fund, which provides long-term sustainable funding, ensuring that the agency can continue to open doors for countless young people in need for many years to come.
Valley Youth House, a cornerstone in communities throughout Eastern Pennsylvania for supporting vulnerable youth and families for the last 51 years, is focused on building their unrestricted endowment to ensure equity, impact, and continued longevity of programs and services. This generous donation will make a significant difference in the agency’s continued ability to provide quality, cutting-edge, research-based programs that deliver life-changing results.
The Topper Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of Valley Youth House for many years. Their commitment is made clear by their regular sponsorship of important programs, such as the Lehigh Valley Street Outreach Program, which directly assists young people experiencing homelessness, and Camp Fowler, an adventure camp in Orefield designed to foster growth, leadership skills, and inclusivity through STEM and Arts programs. Additionally, their support extends to the John E. Walson, Jr. Memorial Golf and Pickleball Tournament, the Annual Southeast Golf Tournament, and the Lehigh Valley Setting the Stage, all premier special events that provide critical funds to help youth and families in need.
“Valley Youth House is an important organization as it is full of incredible team members who are leaning in to the fullest extent possible to help youth across the state,” said Maura Topper, Vice-Chair of the Valley Youth House Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer of CrossAmerica Partners LP. “For many young people without the support networks or resources to thrive, the Valley Youth House team provides youth with the support and confidence to continue to grow as people and members of their communities.”
The Topper Foundation’s dedication is also reflected in their collaboration through the Changemaker Campaign, held annually at many of their gas stations throughout Pennsylvania. This campaign has played an instrumental role in mobilizing community support and raising awareness about the challenges faced by homeless and vulnerable youth.
Tom Harrington, President & Executive Director of Valley Youth House, expressed his gratitude to the Topper Foundation, “This remarkable gift is a testament to the Topper Foundation’s unwavering commitment to our mission. Their continuous support through various programs and initiatives has been invaluable. The foundation’s leadership and commitment to Valley Youth House will significantly impact our ability to provide lasting support to the youth and families we serve.”
The Topper Foundation’s history of philanthropy and community involvement has made a lasting impact throughout the region. Their latest donation underscores their dedication to creating a positive and sustainable future for youth and families.
