HARRISBURG, July 15 – State Reps. Jared Solomon and Jesse Topper, chairs of the bipartisan PA One Caucus, released the following statement regarding the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump:
“Political violence is never acceptable in our democracy. America is a country where Democrats, Republicans, and independents are united in supporting the rule of law and resolving our differences through peaceful discourse as neighbors. The PA One Caucus is united in prayer for the safety of President Trump, his family, and the family of Corey Comperatore who was killed at the event shielding his family. We must work together to turn down the temperature of the political rhetoric in our country. Our political opponents are not our enemies – they are our countrymen, neighbors, and family members. Now we have an opportunity to unite and build our democratic institutions. By setting a new tone, we will encourage Pennsylvanians to do their part to reform and engage in our civic fabric.”
The PA One Caucus was formed in 2021 by 16 state House members – eight Republicans and eight Democrats – to bridge the partisan divide and build working bipartisan relationships, build support for shared ideas, and pass meaningful reforms that make lasting improvements for the commonwealth and its people.
