January 29, 2024 – On Saturday, February 3, 2024, Let’s Play Books Bookstore is celebrating their 10-year anniversary. The independent bookstore had a soft opening on 11/30/2013 and then held their Grand Opening on the first Saturday in February in cooperation with the Emmaus Arts Commission Winter Arts Festival, SnowBlast.
10 years later, the bookstore has provided over $115,000 worth of free author visits to area schools, including a visit from Jeff Kinney during the height of the pandemic, to a sold-out, drive-through crowd at Eyer Middle School. Averaging over 100 events a year, the bookstore has become a staple of the Lehigh Valley. In 2019, Let’s Play Books Co. founded the Lehigh Valley Book Festival and in June of 2023, opened a second bookstore, The End: a bookstore, in South Whitehall Township.
The bookstore is celebrating with two “toasts” to community members: a 10% off sale, and a silent auction full of fabulous bookish items, including a set of signed, first edition Michael Connelly novels donated by a special patron. The bookstore is also asking for community input as they make some tough decisions about the future.
