Rep. Susan Wild Announces Federal Investment in Safer Easton Roads and Streets

EASTON, P.A. – Today, Congresswoman Susan Wild announced a $120,000 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant for the City of Easton. This federal funding, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, will allow Easton to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan to make the city a safer place for drivers and pedestrians.

“This investment is great news that will make Easton’s roads and streets safer for both drivers and pedestrians,” said Congresswoman Susan Wild. “I’m proud to have supported the City of Easton’s application for this grant funding, and I’ll continue working to bring back federal investments to make our communities safer places to live.”

“We are excited for this chance to make Easton a safer place to walk, bike, and drive,” said Easton Mayor Sal Panto. “Some of our streets were designed in the 19th century, and this grant will help us come up with innovative ways to adapt them to safely accommodate our residents and visitors. We are grateful for the support of the US Department of Transportation and our federal representatives who advocated for our behalf for this project, including Representative Wild and Senator Casey.”

Congresswoman Wild sent a letter of support for Easton’s application to the U.S. Department of Transportation, urging that the city receive full consideration for this planning grant. The City of Easton has identified areas with unusually high crash rates, and this funding for a planning grant will help guide projects to make Easton’s roads safer.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program was established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. SS4A supports the development of comprehensive safety action plans to identify communities’ most significant roadway safety concerns and implement projects and strategies to address safety issues. Click here to learn more about SS4A.
