Birthday cakes for humans and pooches + limited edition 1752 Saison from Weyerbacher add to festivities
EASTON, Pa – July 3, 2023 – With a storied heritage dating back to 1752, the Easton Farmers’ Market will celebrate its 271st birthday on July 8 with cake, proclamations, music and more to recognize the importance and longevity of one of the region’s most enduring, resilient and cherished institutions.
Highlights of the day include presentations at 10 a.m. by Mayor Sal Panto, Rep. Bob Freeman and the Bachmann Players, immediately followed by the singing of “Happy Birthday” and free birthday cake from Mia & Maddie’s Bakery and Tomblers Bakery. Canine marketgoers will have a special birthday cake courtesy of The Dining Dog.
The festivities will include a toast to 271 years of fresh and local with Weyerbacher’s limited edition Easton Farmers’ Market label 1752 Saison beer. Free-to-enter prize drawings of 1752 Saison six-packs and $71 in market tokens will occur during market hours. A collection of photos illustrating the history of the Easton Farmers’ Market will be displayed.
Marketgoers will enjoy live music featuring the Grateful Dead inspired band, Deal (10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on stage. Guest Vendors for the July 8 market will be Heart Beet Studio, Earthen Goat and UrbanBohoChic Jewelry.
Holding the title of America’s oldest, continuous open-air market, the Easton Farmers’ Market has been a destination for fresh and locally grown and prepared foods since pre-Revolutionary times. A program of the nonprofit Greater Easton Development Partnership, the Easton Farmers’ Market, presented by Capital Blue, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday (May-December) at Scott Park along Larry Holmes Drive.
The EFM features 45+ vendors in the spacious, outdoor setting bordered by the Delaware and Lehigh rivers. The market moved to Scott Park from its longtime home in Centre Square in 2020 to accommodate COVID-19 health protocols.

Free parking for Easton Farmers’ Market will be available in the two lots adjacent to Scott Park, thanks to Riverstar Properties and the Law Offices of Florio-Perrucci. EFM – as well as the West Ward Market and Highmark Farmstand inside Easton Public Market — welcome Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Additionally, Philadelphia-based The Food Trust (thefoodtrust.org) will double purchases up to $10 through the use of Food Bucks for fruits and veggies when shoppers spend at least $2 using SNAP at all three markets.
